AAT Apprenticeship

The AAT Apprenticeship is suitable for those starting their career in Accountancy. It takes between 12-24 months to complete each level to complete the qualification.

Successful completion of the AAT will grant the learner valuable exemptions from selected exams of ATT, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW (ACA) and CIPFA.

Course Structure at a glance


  • Level 2 Certificate - 12 months
  • Level 3 Diploma - 12 months
  • Level 4 Advanced Diploma - 18-24 months

Available through most Kaplan Training Centres. Part-time study options so that your employees can fit their studies in around their work schedule.

Bringing the classroom to your employees. Live Online follows the same study materials and schedule as the Classroom but is delivered live over the Internet.

Employer Responsibilities

As Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes, most of the training is ‘on the job’ at your premises.

To ensure that your learner develops effective skills throughout their Apprenticeship as an employer you must:

  • Provide an induction and on-the-job mentoring and training
  • Ensure you meet relevant health and safety procedures set by Kaplan
  • Pay your Apprentice’s wage according to the national minimum wage
  • Hold regular meetings with your learners throughout their assessments
  • Employ your learner for at least 30 hours per week

Full funding for 16-18 year olds, partial funding for 19-23 year olds. Advanced Learning Loans are available for those aged 24+. Terms & Conditions apply.
* Employers in England can receive up to £15,000 of AGE grant funding from the National Apprenticeship Service (terms and conditions apply). Employers in Wales can receive up to £3,900 in wage subsidies for each Apprentice.
