Studying in the UK

The UK is known to have one of the best education systems in the world. With 28 universities in the 2009 Times Higher Education Top 200 World Universities, and with around two million students applying to study courses in the UK each year, it’s easy to see why gaining a qualification in the UK is so popular. Once you have completed your studies in the UK, you really can use your qualification to be successful anywhere in the world.

Living in the UK

The UK is a cosmopolitan place to live. Many thousands of families from around the world have made the UK their home, creating a richly diverse, open-minded, multicultural society.

The UK’s capital city, London, is a leading global centre for banking, insurance and commerce, as well as being a magnet for students and tourists alike.

Outside of London well known cities such as Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester are also making their mark with worldclass shopping, restaurants, nightlife and music scenes in addition to their better known industry and sporting links. We have colleges in all of these locations, each with their own unique identity.

  • Home to more than 60 million people
  • 23 UNESCO listed world heritage sites
  • A global centre for business
  • Some of the most multicultural cities in Europe
  • Huge variety of cuisine, music, shopping and sports

Cost of Living in the UK

Apart from the fees for your course, you will also need to ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover your living expenses whilst you are studying.

Your main expense will be accommodation, and there is a wide range of accommodation available in the UK to suit any budget.

All of our colleges are non-residential. We can however help you to find accommodation that is right for you. On average you should budget for the following living expenses per academic year (9 months):

  • £7,200 if you are studying at a campus in central London
  • £5,400 if you are studying at a campus outside of central London

The above figures include the cost of accommodation, bills, food, clothing, books and daily travel for one person.

Opportunities to Travel

In the UK you are never far away from your next adventure, whether it is punting down the River Cam in Cambridge, having an ice cream on the beach in Brighton or welcoming the New Year in Edinburgh, the UK has much to offer every student.

London alone is served by direct flights to 160 international destinations. Outside of term time, and if you can afford to, you are in the perfect place to begin exploring the rest of the UK and parts of Europe as well. Cities like Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Barcelona and Madrid are less than two hours away.
