MBA - Masters in Business Administration

The MBA course allows students to combine their existing professional knowledge and experience with high level research skills to complete a piece of research relevant to the field of business administration. Many students who have previously completed professional qualifications such as ACCA and CIMA go on to study the MBA.

Entry Requirements

As standard, students are expected to hold a degree (3 year programme) at 2.2 or higher, or a professional qualification (such as ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW), together with an IELTS level of 6.5 or above. Students with non-standard qualifications and extensive work experience are considered on a case by case basis.

Course Aims and Objectives

The MBA is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate at the very highest levels of business. Students are encouraged t take a strategic approach to business decision making, and to develop a truly international focus to business problem solving. Graduates will have the ability to integrate disciplines and approaches to develop their own robust solutions to problems that they will face during their careers in business.

Course Structure

The MBA course has two phases; a taught phase and a research phase. The taught phase lasts for two semesters (1 year) and involves students taking a range of core and optional modules. The research phase revolves around the completion of a dissertation and will normally take students between 3 and 6 months to complete. Students are assessed throughout the course in a number of ways, including individual and group assignments, presentations and exams.

*Course structures can be subject to change and module availability depends on demand and LJMU.
