BA (Hons) Business Management

This degree is ideal for students who want to work in both private and public enterprises. The programme will help you to develop competence in the management of people, money markets and products. If you wish to improve your employability this course will help you to develop practical, analytical and interpretive skills in business subject areas together with a good understanding of economic, social and managerial context.

Entry Requirements

Students need to hold GCSEs in English language (IELTS 6.0) and Maths or the equivalent overseas qualification. Students also need to hold at least two A level passes or their overseas equivalent.

Course Aims and Objectives

The programme aims to produce graduates with the skills, knowledge and values necessary to pursue a career in business. Students have to take a series of core subjects but there is also significant opportunity to specialise. At Level 3 students can pick two from three specialist routes.

Course Structure

The course is divided into three levels each requiring a completion of 120 credits. At Levels 2 and 3 students are able to choose from a number of optional modules in additional to the core modules for that Level. To qualify for the honours degree students must complete all course requirements and complete all modules.

Year 1

The first year of the degree is designed to give students the foundations upon which they can develop their knowledge and skills. In the first year there are 8 core modules for students to complete, spanning a broad range of business related topics.

Year 2

The second year of the degree is designed to build upon the knowledge that students have developed from the first year. In addition to 6 core modules students are able to choose an additional 4 modules of their choice, giving them a greater flexibility and allowing them to cater their degree to their own interests and career aims.

Year 3

The final year of the degree comprises of two core modules and an optional module in the form of a project or dissertation. In addition students choose to take two specialist routes from Human Resource Management, Finance and Economics, and Marketing. This level of choice again enables students to graduate from their degree with a qualification that they have tailored themselves to meet their career aspirations.
