Students looking for a career in accountancy or more general business areas should follow this programme in order to develop practical skills, theoretical knowledge and management techniques. This degree gives you a head start on the path to gaining a professional accountancy qualification, allowing a number of exemptions from UK professional accountancy exams. For example once you have completed this programme you will have the opportunity to complete the ACCA qualification in just one year.
Entry Requirements
Students must possess the equivalent of IELTS Level 6.0 or above. They must also possess the equivalent of GCSE Mathematics. Students also need to have the equivalent of 2 A Level passes.
Course Aims and Objectives
This programme aims to develop the appropriate mix of practical techniques, theoretical understanding and management methods required by accountants and financial managers. Successful accountants need a broad range of capabilities including numerical, interpersonal, writing and IT skills.
Course Structure
The course is divided into three levels, each requiring the completion of 120 credits. As they progress through the programme students will be able to choose from a range of optional modules in addition to the core modules. To qualify for the honours degree students must complete all course requirements and complete all modules.

Year 1
The first year is intended to provide students with the foundations upon which they can build a range of skills and knowledge in Years 2 and 3. The First year consists of 7 core modules, introducing students to a range of accounting, finance and business related topics.

Year 2
The second year allows students to build upon the skills that they have developed from Year 1, whilst giving them the flexibility to choose from a range of optional modules in addition to 5 core modules. This provides students with the opportunity to start tailoring their course to suit their own interests and career aspirations.

Year 3
The final year of the course involves students taking 3 core modules in addition to 2 optional modules. Students will be able to continue with catering their course to their own interests, and complete the third year of the course having gained a broad range of skills and knowledge that will stand them in good stead for further professional development and a career in accountancy or finance.
