The CIPFA syllabus
The CIPFA syllabus is broken down into three main components:
- Certificate stage
- Diploma stage
- Final Test of Professional Competence
An element of workplace evidence is also required to complete the qualification.
Examination method
All examinations for the CIPFA qualification are paper based but can vary in duration:
- Certificate stage - 3 hours
- Diploma stage - 3 hours paper based exam with the exception of Company Audit and Taxation which are 2 hours
- Final Test of Professional Competence – Business Strategy for Companies – 3 hours
- Final Test of Professional Competence – Finance and Management Case Study – 6 hours 10 minutes
Pass rates
At Kaplan our pass rates are approximately 85% per paper.
Average CIPFA pass rates in June 2009 were as follows:
- Certificate stage - 67%
- Diploma stage - 70%
- Final Test of Professional Competence - 70%
