Leanne joins our Student Service team          August 2009    

Kaplan Leicester has had a recent addition to its student and client services team this summer. Leanne Preston joins Rashida as another friendly face to support our students at the Leicester front desk. Leanne, who is herself studying the AAT qualification at Kaplan, is available to answer any of your queries or questions on our ACCA, CIMA and AAT qualifications.

Leanne herself says:  ‘I am loving it at Kaplan, it is the best decision I ever made to start the AAT as it has opened up so many opportunities for me including this job. The students are great and the Tutors are fantastic and very helpful.’

Leicester Summer School Success          August 2009  

New to August 2009, Kaplan Leicester introduced the Kaplan Summer school. This event provides a programme of activities for students in years 11,12 and 13 to prepare for life beyond the classroom.

Students were introduced to the fundamentals of accountancy and finance, and were also able to meet some prospective employers, practice interview techniques and improve their employment prospects by producing a quality CV.
Our apprenticeship coordinator, Hannah Currie comments:

‘On the grounds that this was the first time we offered the summer school in Leicester, the response was phenomenal. We were also able to obtain a range of employer representatives from industry, accounting practice and public sector. The successful four day event was defiantly enjoyed by all’

Student becomes First Kaplan Leicester Scholar          June 2009

For the first time in our Leicester centre, Kaplan Financial has run the Kaplan scholarship programme; which is open to school leavers across Leicestershire who are looking to pursue a career in accountancy.

The winner of the award, Andrew Kenneth, will study with Kaplan Financial in September, towards their AAT qualification. Once they are AAT qualified, they would then be given the choice of further accounting qualifications study such as ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW to become a fully qualified accountant.

Applicants had to put together a proposal as to why they believed they should win this scholarship placement, and final interviews with a short list of applicants took place at the beginning of April. A decision has been made, and we are pleased to announce that Andrew Kenneth from De Lisle Catholic Science College has won this year’s scholarship prize.

Will Holt, who conducted the Leicester final interviews, said that “Andrew has great interpersonal skills, demonstrating good business knowledge, making him an all round exceptional candidate.”
